About Me
My Passion for Driving in France

My name is Tim and I am a UK-based traveller and experienced driver who has spent the last 22 years holidaying in all regions of France.

Driving into France several times most years, I have built extensive first-hand experience on French roads — from fast autoroutes and toll stations to scenic rural routes, mountain passes and coastal highways.

Over two decades, I have driven tens of thousands of miles across France, giving me a real, practical insight into:

  • French road signs and rules

  • Using motorway tolls (péages)

  • Paying tolls by cash, card, and with a télépéage toll tag

  • Navigating French speed limits and driving etiquette

  • What UK drivers must prepare before travelling

  • Real-world safety expectations and equipment requirements

  • Post-Brexit driving changes

I created DrivinginFrance.co.uk to help UK drivers travel in France safely, confidently and without confusion. All advice is based strictly on:

  • My own real driving experience in France

  • Official French government sources, including Sécurité Routière and Service-Public.fr

  • Up-to-date legal requirements and practical guidance

My aim is simple:
To provide clear, accurate and trustworthy information so UK drivers can enjoy stress-free trips across France.

When i’m not exploring French towns, villages and routes, I enjoy planning new road trips, researching the latest driving regulations, and sharing practical tips with fellow UK motorists.
